Reproductive Health Policy
The Policy program in the Section of Family Planning and Contraceptive Research believes the future of reproductive health lies in responsible policy making that ensures women continued access to a wide range of reproductive health care services and maintains a women’s bodily integrity. Our goal is to create interdisciplinary research linked to policy issues and work with local and national advocacy groups to help them use evidence to drive their advocacy activities. Our research is rooted in the lives of poor, urban women and girls and working with advocacy organization allows us to address the most pressing policy problems facing women and girls and their families. Interdisciplinary collaborations across the university expand our opportunities for finding innovative solutions to these complex problems. Our goal is to create research that affects public debate and contributes to reducing health disparities in family planning. The Policy program consists of three components: (1) education, in the form of a bimonthly lecture series and annual conference; (2) policy reports on timely issues; and (3) working with the local and national reproductive health advocacy community.
